States of Matter

Objects that takes up space and have mass are called matter. Matter is made up of atoms. There are four states of matter.

Object that takes up space and have mass are called matter.
There are 4 states of matter :

1) SOLIDS
2) LIQUIDS
3) GASES
4) PLASMS

Plasma is considered as the 4th state of matter.

1) A model for a solid :-

a) Solids have a fixed size, shape, and volume of its own.
b) It has high density, inertia, resistance, weight, cohesion, adhesion, rigidity, hardness, and elasticity.
c) The molecules in a solid are closely packed.
d) The distance between the adjasent molecules are of the order of nanometer.
e) They exert intermolecular forces.
f) They are not free to move.
g) They oscillate about their mean position.
h) This increases with temperature........................Read
